STEM Bootcamp for Girls

$5The Society of Women Engineer’s (SWE) STEM Bootcamp will continue the trend set in 2016 with a fun and educational Saturday workshop focusing on careers in engineering, hands-on experiments, and peer interaction to promote problem-solving and self-esteem. This event will feature engineering speakers and an interactive experiment. Resources for career exploration will also be shared and girls will participate in mock interviews to help prepare them for future internship and job interviews.
WHO: STEM Bootcamp is for girls in 8th grade through high school.
WHERE: Olin Hall, Bradley University
WHEN: April 27, 10am-4pm, lunch and snacks are included
Students will learn about:
- engineering design process
- local STEM Careers
- problem-solving
- important resume components
- interview tips
The cost of the STEM Bootcamp is $5.00 per youth. This includes snacks and lunch during the event and all supplies. The camp is provided through a partnership with Society of Women Engineers – Central Illinois Chapter (SWE), University of Illinois Extension, and Bradley University. Scholarships are available if youth are unable to pay the registration fee.
Parents will be invited to a panel discussion including an engineer, a Bradley faculty member and a college student at the end of the day and also to a closing event with the girls.
